Why Medic Services Alone Aren’t Enough: The Hidden Factor in Event Safety

Event organisers carry a critical responsibility: creating a safe environment for every attendee and worker. While hiring medics is essential, it’s only part of the equation. True clinical care requires more than qualified personnel—it demands the right resources, equipment, and systems to support them. Without these, even the best-trained medic can be limited in what they can deliver. Understanding this difference is key to ensuring your event meets safety standards and provides the level of care your guests deserve.
Ensure your medical provider has supplied not just the right personnel, but the resources necessary for them to provide the level of clinical care that you are expecting...

Event Medical Capability Resources for Event Organisers

Choosing an appropriate medical provider is an important part of planning a safe event. However, medical providers can offer very different levels of capability, and it is not always easy for organisers to understand what is being provided.
To help event organisers make informed decisions, Medics On Scene has developed two simple resources:

1. Event Medical Provider Capability Declaration
This document allows medical providers to outline the clinical staffing, equipment, and response model they intend to deploy at an event.
It helps organisers understand key aspects of a provider’s capability, including:
  • Clinician qualifications and registration
  • Equipment and medications carried by medical teams
  • Response vehicles and access capability
  • Staffing models and surge capacity
  • Patient transport and escalation pathways
The declaration also includes a simple comparison guide that can help organisers review capability across multiple providers.

2. Medic Audit Checklist
The Medic Audit Checklist lists the minimum equipment and resource expectations for different clinical levels commonly used in event medical coverage.
Event organisers may request that their medical provider complete this checklist at the start of the event to confirm that the equipment and resources expected are actually present on site.

Why these resources exist
These documents are designed to:
  • Support safe and appropriate medical coverage at events
  • Help organisers understand and compare provider capability
  • Encourage clear communication between event organisers and medical providers
They are not intended to prescribe a single model of event medical care, but rather to provide a transparent framework for discussing capability and expectations.
